My name is Brendan Kerchner, I am a gift...Hi Jane,
My name is Brendan Kerchner, I am a gifted support teacher in Central Pennsylvania and I am also doing a little research for a grad class at Wilkes University. I was looking over your site and am enjoying reading about the trials and tribulations you are encountering in trying to bring your 1:1 environment up to full speed. I think the iPads have great potential as a learning tool, particularly in the creative realm.
If you don’t mind, I’d like to ask you a few questions for my research, although I most certainly understand if you don’t have time to answer. I was wondering how your school decided on iPads. Are there certain features that the iPad has that meet your student’s needs better than other devices? Also, who made the decision and how much input and feedback came from teachers, parents, students, and other members of the community? Finally, were any other devices such as Kindles, Chromebooks, other tablets, or laptops considered? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated and I will continue to follow your blog as a benefit to my own educational needs.
bkerchnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02401184922661817003noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-242225312359872043.post-67026711887991754102015-09-19T17:44:55.182+07:002015-09-19T17:44:55.182+07:00Hi Jane, We have all our students (Grades 1-4) usi...Hi Jane, We have all our students (Grades 1-4) using EasyBlogJR. For our older students (G3-4) they will then go into their blogs on MacBooks and make a few minor edits, but for all kids, it works really well as a way of pushing work off the iPads and out into a space where their work can be shared and viewed. All of our students have an Edublogs account upon enrolment so that is already in place and we have assigned students iPads (we are not 1:1 but more 2:1) with their logins via EasyBlogJR as well as having iPads will all the class for those times that the partner is busy with the iPad an the other student needs to blog. Your blog is great BTW. Thank you so much for all the work you do in documenting learning. It is an invaluable resource! Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
